Gigi's Playhouse: Down Syndrome Achievement Centers provide free educational, therapeutic-based and career development programs for individuals with down syndrome, their families, and the community. In this role, you would help paint their tutor rooms at the Fort Wayne location (all materials will be provided). Volunteers are required to wear face masks and casual clothing, including closed-toe shoes for this service project. Free parking is available on site. Minimum age of 10 to participate; liability waivers must be signed prior to participating. Restricted to 8 volunteers.

St. Joseph Missions Women's Shelter is Fort Wayne's first 25/7/365 emergency shelter expressly for single homeless women. They provide a safe, supported, and structured environment that honors women's dignity and empowers them to become self-sufficient. This project would include mowing, trimming, landscaping, and planting flower pots around the facility (all equipment and supplies will be provided). Volunteers must wear a face mask and closed-toe shoes to participate, and are encouraged to bring your own pair of gardening gloves. Please dress accordingly for the weather when outdoors. Free parking with wheelchair accessibility will be available on site. Must be 14 years of age to participate. Maximum capacity for this event is set at 7 volunteers.

St. Joseph Missions Women's Shelter is Fort Wayne's first 25/7/365 emergency shelter expressly for single homeless women. They provide a safe, supported, and structured environment that honors women's dignity and empowers them to become self-sufficient. This project is an ongoing collection of the following needed items: disinfectant wipes, laundry soap, dryer sheets, garbage bags (small wastebasket & large kitchen can sizes), paper products, toiletries, and feminine hygiene products. They would also like to gather a collection of instructional, spiritual/personal development, or fiction books for their library (new or used) - all inscribed with a personal, encouraging message from the donor in the front cover explaining why they chose the book. Personal touches such as highlighted chapters or notes in the margin are encouraged. This project can be done from the comfort and safety of your home during the duration of time between sign-ups and our event date. Please bring all donated supplies to the shelter o April 17th during the times listed above. Free parking with wheelchair accessibility will be available on site.

Fort Wayne Pet Food Pantry provides donated pet food to owners who are struggling financially, keeping pets at home with their families for their health and well-being. In this role, you would help bag pet food and treats or serve clients. Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is possible and liability waivers are required. Volunteers are required to wear face masks and casual clothing, including closed-toe shoes for this service project. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be provided during breaks and free parking is available in the church lot nearby. Minimum age of 14 to participate; parent/guardian supervision required for anyone under age 18. This event is set at of a maximum of 9 volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores sell home improvement items to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds are used to help build strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter in local communities and around the world. In this role, you would be unloading and building boxed furniture in a warehouse large enough for social distancing. Activities might require the ability to sit, kneel, stand, and lift light-moderate weight but accommodations can be made otherwise. Volunteers must wear a face mask, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and casual clothing for this service project. Free parking with wheelchair accessibility will be available on site. All volunteers must also sign up for the shift at the VolunteerHub and sign a waiver form; those under 18 must include a signature by a parent or guardian.
